1. Find a way to hold the yarn that works for YOU. Not the other way around.
Everyone teaches you to hold it this one way but I’ve never done it like that. It doesn’t work for me.
I wrap the yarn around my index finger, and as I knit, it slowly unwraps. When my finger runs out of yarn, I wrap it again.
You do not have to copy everyone else if it doesn’t feel right. Experiment with different wraps until you find what gives you control without pulling too tight or letting it hang too loose.
2.Use the right needles
Different materials = different tension.
If your tension is tight, try metal needles (yarn slides more easily).
If your tension is loose, try wood or bamboo (they add a bit of grip).
I know you don’t want to hear it, but…
3.Practice, practice, practice.
One day, without even realizing it, you’ll look down and be surprised at how beautifully you knit. I promise :D
4.Bonus tip: BLOCKING.
So much unevenness can be fixed with blocking. Definitely worth a try ;)
